Doppler on Wheels outreach events to teach about severe weather preparedness

The department of atmospheric sciences will host two upcoming events featuring the Doppler on Wheels truck-mounted research weather radar, providing an opportunity to learn about severe weather preparedness in honor of National Severe Weather Week. This radar has been used for tornado chasing and weather research around the world, and has been featured on the Discovery Channel and the Weather Channel.

Campus Outreach Event:

  • March 3, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., in the parking lot near atmospheric sciences, 105 S. Gregory St., near Springfield and Gregory, north of Green Street.

Community Outreach Event:

  • March 5, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., in the parking lot across the street from Florida Avenue Residence Halls at Florida and Lincoln.

The outreach events are funded by the National Science Foundation.
