Deaths

Jerome “Jerry” Carlson, 79, of Rantoul, Illinois, died Aug. 10 at the Manteno Veterans Home in Manteno, Illinois. He was an X-ray technician and retired from McKinley Clinic at the university. A celebration of his life with family and friends will be held at a later date.

Raymond (Ray) Eugene Jenkins, 68, of Tolono, Illinois, died Aug. 11 at home. He worked for the university. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne St., Tolono, Illinois. A ceremony will follow at 7 p.m. Memorials: American Heart Association.

Janis Elaine “Jan” Shearer, 70, of Savoy, Illinois, died Aug. 12 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She worked as a clerk for the University Library. Memorials: Champaign County Nursing Home or the Champaign County Humane Society.

Karen L. Wold, 52, of Champaign, died Aug. 5. She worked as a learning disability specialist at Disability Resources and Educational Services. A wake will be held Friday, Aug. 18, from 5-7 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, Illinois. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 708 W. Main St., Urbana.
