Deaths

Betty Ann Everence, 83, of Urbana, died Sept. 11 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She worked as an administrative secretary for the university for more than 40 years. Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Eastlawn Cemetery, 707 N. Cunningham Ave., Urbana. Memorials: St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2200 S. Philo Road, Urbana, IL 61802.

Terry L. Jamison, 63, of Broadlands, Illinois, died Sept. 10 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He retired from the university, where he worked in the operations and maintenance department. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, Illinois. Memorials: Piatt County Animal Shelter.

Jack Arthur May, 87, of Savoy, Illinois, died Sept. 10 at his home. He was a supervisor of operations in the university’s Physical Plant, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at First Baptist Church of Champaign, 1602 S. Prospect Ave., Savoy, Illinois. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Champaign. Memorials: First Baptist Church of Champaign.

Barbara Ann Yates, 83, of San Diego, died Aug. 11 at her home. She was a professor at the university and was the founding director of Women in International Development, now known as Women and Gender in Global Perspectives. Her ashes were spread at sea. Memorials: UIF, Barbara A. Yates Women and Gender in Global Perspectives Fund, 1305 W. Green St., Urbana, IL 61801.
