Deaths

Ken Gunji, 83, of Champaign, died Sept. 30 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He worked in student services at the university for many years. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the I Hotel Chancellor Ballroom, 1900 S. First St., Champaign. The family will greet friends after the service until noon. Memorials: WGRC Inc., the Foundation for the Rotary Club of Champaign, Prairielands Council Boy Scouts of America or the Champaign Public Library Foundation.

Richard Pelczar, 75, of Champaign, died Sept. 29 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was a professor of education policy research at the university from 1972-74.

Walter E. Schroeder, 91, of Fisher, Illinois, died at his home Sept. 29. He retired from the university’s Housing Division in 1982.
