David R. Hamilton, 83, of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Champaign-Urbana, died at home Nov. 1. He served as the team physician for the university’s football team for several years. Bernhard “Bernie” Works, of Middleton, Wisconsin, died Oct. 28 at Attic Angel Retirement Community in Middleton. Works, a professor emeritus of theatre at Illinois, was a member of the original planning committee for Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. He was Krannert’s first technical director and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1993. Memorials: Illinois High School Theatre Festival.
