Barbara Ledora Butts Anderson, 88, died Dec. 7. She worked for the University of Illinois Home Extension office. Memorials: Carle Hospice, 206A W. Anthony Drive, Champaign, IL 61820, or Mahomet Christian Church, 908 N. Lake of the Woods Road, Mahomet, IL 61853.

Barbara Ann Armstrong, 69, of Urbana, died Nov. 22 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She worked at the university for 37 years, retiring from the computer science department. Memorials: Champaign County Humane Society.

Sharol L. “Sherry” Hanson, 69, of Savoy, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, died Dec. 3 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She retired from the university after 30 years of service.

Robert J. Mosborg, 94, of Naperville, Illinois, died Dec. 6 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was a research assistant at the university from 1947 until 1952, when he became an assistant professor of civil engineering, becoming a professor in 1975. In 1983, he became the assistant dean and director of placement for the College of Engineering, retiring in 1993.  Memorials: University of Illinois Foundation/Department of Civil Engineering, 1305 W. Steven Nicholas, 69, of Champaign, died at his home Dec. 4. He was an instrument technician at Abbott Power Plant until his retirement.

Bernard Spodek, 86, of Urbana, died Dec. 3. In 1965, he joined the College of Education to establish the early childhood education program. Before his retirement in 1997, he served as chairman of elementary and early childhood education, and as the department director of graduate studies. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Clark-Lindsey Village, Urbana. Memorials:  Bernard and Prudence Spodek Endowment Fund, in care of the University of Illinois Foundation.

Ralph R. Swarr, 89, of Urbana, died Nov. 28 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He joined the university in 1965, retiring in 1996 as a professor emeritus of psychology at the Counseling Center. Memorials: Heifer International or the Urbana Park District.
