Deaths

Ronald Dean Bagley, 79, of Mahomet, Illinois, died Dec. 17 at his home. He was a building inspector at the university. Graveside services with military rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Tuscola Township Cemetery. Memorials: Vitae Foundation.

Mary Elizabeth Butts Creech, 89, of Fithian, Illinois, died Dec. 15 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She worked for several years at the university.

Teddy Georgia Eddleman, 92, of Champaign, died Dec. 15 at Villa West in Champaign. Teddy and her husband, Thomas Dwight “Dike” Eddleman, shared an unwavering loyalty to U. of I. athletics. In 1988, she was awarded an honorary “I” from the Varsity “I” Association. She was a lifetime member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association and served on the University of Illinois Foundation President’s Council. She was a member of both the Illini Rebounders and the Illini Quarterback Club. Arrangements are pending through Morgan Memorial Home. Memorials: University Place Christian Church in Champaign or the Dike Eddleman Athletic Scholarship Endowment via the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Jean Frazier Patterson of Winchester, Tennessee, died Dec. 9 at Southern Manor in Winchester. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at Otey Memorial Parish Church in Sewanee, Tennessee. She worked as a secretary for the department of education and the department of ecology, ethology and evolution at the university, retiring in 1996. Memorials: Episcopal Relief and Development.

Barbara J. Perrero, 75, of Mahomet, Illinois, died Dec. 13 at her home. She was a business manager in the Office of the University Counsel for many years, retiring in 1998.

Randy B. Rogers, 62, of Monticello, Illinois, died Dec. 17 at his home. He worked at the university from 1987 until his retirement in 2012. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Memorials: Whooping Crane Migration or the International Crane Foundation.

Phillip Andrew Wassom, 62, of Sidney, Illinois, died Dec. 12 at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Quest Church, 2004 Philo Road, Urbana. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10 to 11 a.m. He retired from the university in 2017. Memorials: PKD Foundation.

John Wrinkle Welch, 73, died Dec. 15. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at the First Baptist Church, 402 S. Elm St., Mahomet, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana. He worked 12 years at the university, starting at central stores and eventually running the onsite computer store. Memorials: First Baptist Church of Mahomet.
