Deaths

Elizabeth “Betty” Jeanette Baniassadi, 91, of Savoy, died Jan. 9 at Heartland Health Care Manor in Champaign. She worked as a secretary in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences library, retiring in 2004 after 34 years of service. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Hessel Park Christian Reformed Church, 700 W. Kirby Ave., Champaign. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials: Hessel Park Christian Reformed Church.

Edward Eugene Jones, 65, of Urbana, died Jan. 5. He worked as a pipefitter at the university for more than 25 years. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 13, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the service.

Rosanne Janice Koehler, 93, of Champaign, died Dec. 27. She worked part time for 10 years with the university’s Athletic Ticket Office. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church in Champaign, or to Page’s ALS foundation.

Helen Lucille Wheatley, 90, of Savoy, died Jan. 10.  She worked for the university’s Union Food Services for more than 28 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 600 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Urbana, with visitation two hours prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials: Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund or Shriners Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
