Deaths

Marilois Barker, 78, of Evansville, Indiana, died Feb. 17 at her home. She worked for the university. Memorials: Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Ave., Evansville, IN 47715, or the American Cancer Society, 5250 Vogel Road, Evansville, IN 47715.

Donald “Don” Lee Day, 86, of Urbana, died Feb. 19 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was a professor of agricultural engineering at the university for more than 32 years. A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Twin City Bible Church, 806 W. Michigan Ave., Urbana. Funeral services will be held at the church immediately following the visitation. Memorials: Twin City Bible Church, American Cancer Society or the Young Eagles.

Steven J. D’Urso, 65, of Mahomet, Illinois, died Feb. 16 at his home. He began lecturing at the College of Engineering at Illinois in 2011.

Charles Walter “Erik” Eriksen, 95, of Oakland, Illinois, died Feb. 16 at his home. He was a professor of psychology at the university from 1956-93, retiring as a professor emeritus. No public visitation is scheduled. A graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at Union (Greasy Point) Cemetery, Hindsboro, Illinois.

Jack Theodore Harroun, 92, of Canton, Illinois, died Feb. 18. He worked at the university. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church, 275 Linden St., Canton, IL 61520.

C. Rex Mahannah, 86, of Florence, Kentucky, died Feb. 16 at Villasprings of Erlanger in Erlanger, Kentucky. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, with visitation one hour prior to service time. He was a greenhouse worker for the botanical department at the university.

Kenneth Neil Statzer, 79, of Tuscola, Illinois, died Feb. 2. He was a risk manager at the university. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held in Tuscola in the spring. Memorials: Tuscola Community Foundation or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
