Roy F. Block, 90, of Sidney, Illinois, died Sept. 7 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. He worked at the university’s sheep barns for many years. Memorials: Sidney Fire Departmentor Homer American Legion.

Carolyn Margaret (Rexroat) Dodd, 80, of Homer, Illinois, died Sept. 5 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. She retired from the university’s School of Music after 36 years of service. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, with the Rev. Leah Grayer officiating. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery in Homer. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home. Services will be followed by a luncheon at the United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Homer. Memorials: Homer Community Libraryor American Legion Post 290 Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary Anne Hewing, 84, of Philo, Illinois, died Sept.  4 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She retired from her position as a library clerk at the university’s Commerce Library. Memorials: St. Thomas Catholic School, Philo.

Timothy Gerard Hewing, 54, of Philo, Illinois, died Sept. 2 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He began his career as a video technician at WILL in Urbana. Memorials: Knights of Columbus Father John C. Hecht Council 13103, 108 S. Harrison St., Philo, IL 61864-9200.

Raymond Ides, 73, died Aug. 16 in Kentucky. He was a physical plant service worker for the university for many years. A memorial lunch will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the American Legion Post 71, 107 Broadway Ave., Urbana.

David Kay, 79, of Urbana, died Sept. 2 in Urbana. He joined the department of English at the university in 1966. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Urbana. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. at Clark-Lindsey Village, Urbana. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church of Urbanaor to Reading Group, 3011-A Village Office Place, Champaign, IL 61822.

Frederick “Fred” E. Payne, 96, of Champaign, died Sept. 1 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. He worked at the Assembly Hall, starting in 1964 as a gateman, later becoming gateman supervisor for 32 years. He also worked for the university’s Athletic Association ticket office, starting in 1978, for 13 years. He then worked for the Assembly Hall ticket office. Memorials: Champaign County Humane Societyor the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation.

Margaret R. Selin, 97, of Champaign, died Sept. 4 at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. She was employed by the university, first by the Athletic Association as secretary to football coaches Ray Eliot and, upon his retirement, Pete Elliott. She was with the department of athletics from 1942 until 1967. She then served the university as secretary/administrative assistant to presidents David D. Henry, John E. Corbally and Stanley O. Ikenberry. Memorials: Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Joseph Tarbet Woolley, 95, of Hooper, Utah, died Sept. 6. He worked as a plant physiology research agronomist in a joint position with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the university’s department of agronomy for his entire career, from 1956 until his retirement in 1989.
