Deaths

Arthur R. Robinson, 85, died Oct. 15. He was a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the U. of I. for 33 years, retiring in 1993. Memorials: Sinai Temple, Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation, or Illini Hillel Cohen Center for Jewish Life.

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held for Jorge Chapa from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 23 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign. A visitation with family members will begin at 4 p.m. with the service beginning at 6 p.m. Guests are invited to share memories during the service and bring photos to share. Chapa, 62, died Oct. 19 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He had been on the faculty at the U. of I. since fall 2006. He taught Latina-Latino studies and sociology, was affiliated with the Institute of Government and Public Affairs and the Women and Gender in Global Perspectives Program, and became director of the Center on Democracy in a Multiracial Society.
