Arthur A. Frick, 95, died Dec. 9 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. He worked at the U. of I. for 11 years, retiring in 1980 as an animal caretaker III for the department of animal sciences. Memorials: Sidney United Church, 501 E. Main St., Sidney, IL 61877

Samuel Cullop, 63, died Dec. 14 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He had been a building service worker for Facilities and Services since April 2011. Memorials: Trout Unlimited or the Champaign County Humane Society.

Shirley Mae McGuffey, 80, died Dec. 7 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She worked at the U. of I. for 26 years, starting as a secretary II in the Purchasing Division and retired as a secretary III in animal sciences.

John Carl “Junior” Opolka, 87, died Dec. 11 at Champaign-Urbana Nursing and Rehabilitation, Savoy. He worked at the U. of I. for 39 years, starting as an assistant plate-maker in the print shop and retired in 1988 as the superintendent of Printing Services. Memorials: St. John Lutheran Church, Champaign or Cornbelt Fire Protection District, Mahomet.

Violet Mary Wycoff, 92, died Dec. 7 at Country Health Care and Rehab, Gifford. She worked at the U. of I. from 1970-73, working as a library clerk II and as a duplicating machine operator II at the library. Memorials: Champaign County Forest Preserve.
