Deaths

Hillel V. Gauchman, 78, died March 18. He was an adjunct professor of mathematics at the U. of I. from 1986-99. Shiva will be held at the home of Julia Gauchman, 57 E. Delaware Place, Apt. 2005, Chicago, IL 60611, 2 to 7 p.m. March 24 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 25. Funeral services will be private.

John R. Shumard, 64, died March 11 in Bement, Illinois. He worked at the U. of I. for 33 years, retiring in 2002 as a facilities manager for the University Library.

Andrew “Tippy” Young Jr. III, 59, died March 19 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He had been a food service sanitation laborer for University Housing for 25 years.
