Deaths

Frederic Magill Jenkins, 86, died March 10 at Heartland Health Care Center, Champaign. He was a professor of French for 33 years. He retired in 1997 and became professor emeritus in 1999. Memorials: Kickapoo Rail Trail.

Reiner “Tom” Zuidema, 88, died March 2 at his Urbana home. He was a professor of anthropology for 26 years, retiring in 1993 as professor emeritus.

Memorial services

A memorial service for Bonnie B. Armbruster will begin at 11 a.m. March 19 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 61980 Skyline Ranch Road, Bend, OR, 97702. More details can be found at the Baird Funeral Home website. Armbruster, 67, died March 1 in Bend, Oregon. She was a U. of I. professor of curriculum and instruction for 30 years, retiring in 2009 as professor emeritus. Memorials: CASA of Central Oregon or Partners In Care.

A visitation for Thomas S. Elliott will be 6-8 p.m. March 17 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, 215 E. Washington St., Monticello. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. March 18 at the funeral home. The burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Monticello Township Cemetery. Elliott, 52, died March 13. He was an information technology technical associate for Facilities and Services. Memorials: A cancer charity or United Service Organizations.

A celebration of life service for Frances M. Johnson will be at 2 p.m. March 18 at First Presbyterian Church of Champaign, 302 W. Church St., Champaign. Johnson, 83, died March 13 at the Champaign-Urbana Nursing and Rehab Center, Savoy. She taught at the Child Development Lab and University Laboratory High School.
