Deaths

Kenneth J. Frantz, 77, died June 8 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. He retired as a university library security guard. Memorials: Carle Hospice and the Champaign County Nursing Home.

David Ledbetter Nanney, professor emeritus of biology in the School of Life Sciences, died June 4 at Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Chapel of Saint John the Divine, 1011 S. Wright St., Champaign.

Joyce F. Norris, 82, died June 6 at Clark-Lindsey/Meadowbrook Renewal Therapy Center in Urbana. She worked for 16 years for the university in the personnel placement office. Memorials: Boys Town USA, 200 Flanagan Blvd., P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010; or The St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Jessica Giannerini-Thomas, 37, died May 23 in Urbana.She served as a coordinator of the Illinois Youth Survey with the Center for Prevention Research and Development, part of the School of Social Work.

Marjorie Lou Castle, 89, died May 24 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Grace Lutheran Church, 313 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign. Before her retirement, Castle was employed by the university as a groundskeeper. Memorials: Alzheimer’s Association

Roy J. Charles, 93, died June 1 in Urbana. Charles worked as a machinist for the university’s School of Life Sciences for 32 years. Memorials: Marine Corps League, care of VFW Post 630, Urbana, or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Norman D. Busboom, 80, died May 27 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He retired from the university as an electrical engineer.

Walter W. “Buddy” Holt, died April 29 in Champaign. He retired from the university’s physical plant services.

Robert J. Silver, 85, died May 14 in Sebring, Fla. He retired as the supervisor of the university’s print shop.

Bryan D. Stewart, 85, died May 21 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Stewart retired from the university.
