Deaths

David Russell Opperman, 91, died July 5 in Savoy, Ill. He joined the faculty as an instructor in general engineering in 1956. He retired as assistant dean and associate professor of general engineering in 1985. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, with a memorial service to follow. Donations may be made in his memory at The Empty Tomb, Champaign.

Paul Everett Parker, 80, died July 2 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital, Reidsville, N.C. In 1973, he began serving as an assistant dean and the Minority Engineering Program director. He retired in 2007. Memorials: the Dean Paul Parker Scholarship Fund, University of Illinois Foundation, 1305 W. Green St., Urbana, IL 61801, or online.

Sharon Holt, 74, of Pesotum, Ill., died June 30 in Pesotum. She retired from her job as administrative secretary for the vice president of business and finance in 2005.
