Deaths

Thomas J. Hanratty died Aug. 24 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was a member of the faculty of the university from 1953 to 1997. Memorials: Hanratty Professional Development Fund at the U. of I. Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, 114 Roger Adams Laboratory, MC 712, 600 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana, IL 61801. Rembert T. (Jack) Gladin, 86, died Aug. 22 at Bridle Brook Assisted Living, Mahomet, Illinois. He was a motion picture photographer for sport information at the U. of I. He was also the assistant manager of the photographic service department, later becoming the manager of the photographic department of the engineering campus, retiring in 1995. Memorials: Champaign Masonic Lodge 240, 14 Bel Air Court, Champaign, IL 61821.

Bob I. Eisenstein, 77, died Aug. 17 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He became a professor in 1967, specializing in particle physics, and served as the associate head of the university’s physics department. Memorials: Sinai Temple.
