Howard D. Eskridge, 71, died in his home near Tuscola, Illinois on Dec. 9. He served 30 years as a firefighter instructor at the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute. Celebration of life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Arcola United Methodist Church, 121 S. Locust St., Arcola, Illinois. Kathryn “Katie” Matilda Gravlin, 96, of Champaign died Dec. 4 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She worked at the university, where she spent 24 years cooking for fraternities and sororities. Memorials: St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Endowment Fund.
