Deaths

Janice Lynn Allen, 64, of Fairland, Illinois, died April 28. She was a retiree from the university.

Donald Chien-Tao Chiang, 91, of River Forest, Illinois, formerly of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Champaign, died May 3. He worked in the electrical engineering department at the university.

Doris M. Downs, 89, of Urbana, died at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Urbana. She worked in dormitory food services at the university. Memorials: Harbor Light Hospiceor the Champaign County Humane Society.

Max Elmer Reid, 92, of Savoy, Illinois, died May 5 at Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana. He volunteered as an usher at the Assembly Hall (now the State Farm Center) and Memorial Stadium. Visitation will be Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m., and the funeral at 11 a.m. at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church of Champaignor the Champaign County Humane Society.

Helen Louise (Camp) Ridlen,73, died May 7 in Urbana. She worked as a nurse at the University of Illinois’ McKinley Hospital, retiring in 1987 as the administrative head nurse, having served the university for 20 years. A funeral service is scheduled at University Place Christian Church, 503 S. Wright St., Champaign, on Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials: University Place Christian Churchor the Lakeview College of Nursing Scholarship Fund, 903 N. Logan Ave., Danville, IL 61832.
