Gene S. Gilmore, 96, of Bonita, California, died Jan. 15 at Bonitaview Hospice in Bonita. A celebration of his life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Friends Meeting House, 1904 E. Main St., Urbana. He began teaching journalism at the university in 1963, where he taught until he retired. Memorials: American Friends Service Committee, the American Civil Liberties Union or UNICEF.
