CNN political commentator Robert Novak to join three UI political science professors in discussion

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – CNN political commentator Robert Novak will join three University of Illinois political science professors Feb. 22 in a free, public discussion about the value of presidential primaries.

“Presidential Primaries: A Good Idea?” will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in 110 Gregory Hall, 810 S. Wright St., Urbana. The UI participants will be Scott Althaus, Brian Gaines and Peter Nardulli.

The panelists will cover such topics as representation, the role of the news media and the implications of more states holding early primaries.

Novak has been a journalist for more than 40 years. He has worked for The Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Herald-Tribune. His column, “Inside Report,” is the oldest syndicated column in the nation.
