Campus visit
Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama, D-Chicago, met with more than 200 constituents at the Illini Union on Aug. 3 during his five-day campaign tour of downstate Illinois.
Obama, a candidate for the U.S. Senate, was accompanied by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin. The ‘meet and greet’ event, which was sponsored by the Graduate Employees’ Organization, came one week after Obama’s keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in Boston on July 27.
