  • Did news coverage turn Americans against the Vietnam War?

Scott Althaus, the director of the Cline Center for Democracy

The Vietnam War was the first to come into most American living rooms through television, but that doesn’t mean it was Americans’ first or even most-graphic look at war through moving images, says Scott Althaus, the director of the Cline Center for Democracy at Illinois, as well as a professor of political science and of communication. Althaus has led extensive research on news coverage and popular support for American wars going back a century.
