Barn razing

Barn razing A crane lifts a cupola from the UI’s beef barn on May 30. The barn was being disassembled and moved to Monticello by the Piatt County Museum. The museum plans to re-assemble and renovate the barn during 2008 to house exhibitions. The barn, erected in 1917 at the intersection of Fourth Street and St. Mary’s Road, was removed so that Fourth Street could be extended to Hazelwood Drive as part of the South Campus development project. The $15,502 that the museum paid for the barn went into the university’s historic preservation fund and will support preservation work elsewhere on campus.
