Bagchi next director of the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology

Milan Bagchi, the head of the department of molecular and integrative physiology, was named the next director of the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Illinois.

Feng Sheng Hu, the Harry E. Preble Dean at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, announced that Bagchi, the Deborah Paul Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology, will succeed the school’s current director, Stephen Sligar.

Bagchi, who researches endocrinology, reproductive biology and signal transduction, received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Calcutta, India, and earned his Ph.D. in 1984 at the University of Nebraska.
