Campus Recreation offers almost 70 group fitness classes weekly, access to personal trainers, about 10 intramural sports each semester, outdoor equipment rental, aquatic activities, ice skating and hockey programs, and more than 40 club sports. About 500,000 square feet of space in four facilities include a 35-foot climbing wall; badminton, basketball, racquetball, squash and volleyball courts; indoor and outdoor pools; a jogging track, 180 pieces of cardio equipment; tons of weights; and a soccer and inline hockey gym.

The goal of the UI Wellness Center is to help students and faculty and staff members attain successful and fulfilling studies, work and life. The center offers programs on topics such as smoking cessation and weight management, as well as physical therapy and athletic training, and provides a resource center for all dimensions of wellness: emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual.

The Tenant Union, part of the Office of the Dean of Students, provides free services to U. of I. students, including help in finding apartments, reviewing leases and empowering students to become their own advocates. The office maintains a landlord complaint record and provides roommate and landlord conflict resolution.

McKinley Health Center serves the students at Illinois with primary care physicians; pharmacy service; 24-hour Dial-a-Nurse service; mental health counseling and treatment; travel exams and inoculations; women’s health clinic; health and wellness information; and over-the-counter self care at health resource centers. The Health Service Fee, paid as part of enrollment, provides the funds.
