International Programs and Studies (IPS) and the Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA) at the UI will honor next year's student recipients of International Awards. The April 26 reception will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the International Studies Building. This year, more than 150 graduate and undergraduate students are expected to receive fellowships and grants to pursue international study and research in the upcoming year. According to Roger E. Kanet, director of International Programs and Studies, "some of the best students in the country are enrolled at the UI, and some of the brightest and most promising among them participate in international study and research programs." The IPS/MUCIA reception is meant to "recognize the accomplishments of a small number of these students" as well as "to make a broader group of students at UI aware of these important fellowship opportunities."
