Ellis Hall,
54, died Feb. 3 in Chicago. Hall was a cook at the UI from 1979
to 1985.
Jack C. Everly, 74, died Jan.
31. Everly was a professor of agricultural communications and
served as the head of the Office of Instructional Media and Television
during his 42 years at the UI. He retired in 1997. Memorials:
University Presbyterian Church Growth Fund, Gallatin United Methodist
Church, Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter or
the NACTA Journal.
V. Milton Ewing, 89, died
Jan. 13 at Plains Regional Medical Center, Clovis, Ill. Ewing
worked at the UI for 17 years, retiring in 1982.
Bertha M. McCarty, 85, died
Feb. 14 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. McCarty worked
for the UI for 20 years, retiring in 1975 as a maid in the Housing
Division. Memorials: Church of Christ, St. Joseph, or a charity
of the donor’s choice.
Mary Jo Pelafas, 71, died
Feb. 12 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. Pelafas worked
in the physics department for 23 years. Memorials: St. Patrick
Catholic Church Youth Fund.
Donald Harold Percival, 78,
died Jan. 30 at his Champaign home. Percival joined the Small
Homes Council at the UI in 1956 and was a research professor of
wood technology and utilization – forestry. He retired in
1989. He also was a longtime member of the Medicare 7, 8 or 9
Dixieland group.
Barbara Louise VanDorn, 70,
died Feb. 6 at ManorCare Health Services, Champaign. VanDorn retired
from the UI Division of Operation and Maintenance. Memorials:
Provena Covenant Hospice Care Program, 1400 W. Park St., Urbana,
IL 61801.
Lloyd D. Witter, 79, died
Feb. 10 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Witter was a UI
professor of food microbiology/food science from 1956 until he
retired in 1992. Memorials: Leukemia Research Foundation, 820
Davis St., Suite 420, Evanston, IL 60201-9535.
Correction
Beulah J. Drom, 98, died Jan.
17 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Center, Urbana. (Her name was misspelled
in the initial notice, Jan. 23.)
