Robert Walter Bohl, 80, died March 18 at
his Urbana home. Bohl worked at the UI for 35 years, retiring
as professor emeritus of mining and metallurgical engineering
and of nuclear engineering in 1981. He also served as associate
head of nuclear engineering for three years. Memorials: Bob Bohl

Charles E. Chapman, 76, died March 21 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Chapman worked for the UI more than 30 years, retiring in 1990 as a roofer. Memorials:

Buford V. Conover, 85, died March 21 at ManorCare Health Services of Champaign.
Conover worked at the UI Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services
for more than 20 years, retiring in 1982 as a campus transportation operator.
Francis H. “Frank” Itzin, 89, died March 18 at Carle Foundation Hospital,
Urbana. Itzin worked at the UI for 18 years, retiring in 1984 as professor emeritus
of social work. He also served as associate dean and acting dean of the school.
Linda Schull Jackson, 50, died March 26 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Jackson worked at the UI Housing Division. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
Marcia Lynn Johnson, 57, died March 14 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Johnson worked in the UI department of curriculum and instruction most recently
as an adjunct lecturer. Memorials: Champaign County Humane Society.
William I. Lawrence, 75, died March 24 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
He worked at the UI for 38 years, retiring in 1995. Memorials: St. Matthew Catholic
Church Building Fund or American Kidney Foundation.
Carolyn Dale McGreevy, 78, died March 29 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
McGreevy worked for the UI Library for more than 30 years, retiring in 1993 as
a library technical assistant III. Memorials: Quincy Notre Dame High School or
St. Mary’s Catholic School.
June D. Mitchell, 80, died March 18 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center,
Danville. Mitchell worked at the UI for 14 years, retiring in 1992 as a financial
aid adviser III for the Office of Student Affairs. Memorials: Hoopeston United
Methodist Church.
Luella G. Price, 84, died March 30 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Price
worked at the UI for nine years. She left the UI in 1988 as a secretary III for
accounting.
John Gordon Replinger, 82, died March 27 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Replinger worked at the UI for 35 years, retiring in 1985 as professor emeritus
of architecture. He also served as associate head of architecture and was a professor
of housing research and development. Memorials: Replinger Fund, Ricker Library

Glen B. Rubenking, 89, died March 22 at Heartland Health Care Center, Paxton.
Rubenking was an architectural engineer for the UI and a supervisor of
construction, including renovations for Memorial Stadium. Memorials: Alzheimer’s
Association; Fisher United Methodist Church; or Heartland Health Care Center,
Paxton.
Minnie F. Sawyer, 85, died March 13 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Sawyer
worked at the UI Law Library, retiring in 1983. Memorials: Sister Taylor’s
House of Refuge, Brocton, or Little Galilee Christian Academy, Clinton.
Phyllis Lee Smith, 67, died March 22 at her Fairland home. Smith retired from
the UI as a linen maid for housing after 35 years of service.
Miriam Beatrice Taylor Scantlebury, 69, died March 18 at Provena Covenant Medical
Center, Urbana. Scantlebury was a nurse at UI Medical Center in Chicago and worked
on the Urbana campus for 21 years at McKinley Health Center. Memorials: St. Jude’s
Children’s Hospital or Crisis Nursery of Champaign-Urbana.
John G. Velu, 79, died March 29 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Velu retired
from the UI department of natural resources and environmental sciences. Memorials:

James William Westwater, 86, died March 31 at Meadowbrook Health Center, Urbana.
Westwater worked at the UI for 32 years, retiring in 1988 as professor emeritus
of chemical engineering. He also served as head of the department from 1976 to

Gilbert Wright, 79, died Feb. 20 in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Wright taught for several
years at the UI and was associate director of the Krannert Center for Performing
