George E. Anner, 86, died May 11 at Meadowbrook Health Care, Urbana. Anner held a joint appointment as professor of electrical engineering and in the Coordinated Science Laboratory. He worked at the UI for 19 years and was active in curriculum development and the initiation of courses, particularly in the microelectronics field.

Carol S. Bailey, 67, died May 3 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Bailey was a secretary in the Division of Operation and Maintenance for 37 years, retiring as a secretary IV in 1993. Memorials: Appalachian Mountain Ministry.

Harriett Louise Cuppernell, 70, died May 11 at her Urbana home. Cuppernell worked at the UI for almost 11 years, retiring in 2001 as a clerical assistant in the Accounting Division. Memorials: Carle Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

William Phillips, 81, died April 29 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Phillips was a UI physicist.

Millie M. Schaefer, 72, died May 12 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County. Schaefer was a maid with the Housing Division, retiring in 1986.

Steven Alan Stahl, 52, died May 6 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Stahl, a UI professor of curriculum and instruction, joined the faculty in 2002. Memorials: Steven A. Stahl Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the International Reading Association, the American Cancer Society or the Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance.

Donald R. Walker, 71, died May 11 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Walker was a building service worker for the Division of Operation and Maintenance for almost 10 years, retiring in 1995. Memorials: Adam Wagner Scholarship Fund at Danville High School or St. Judes Children's Hospital.

Clifford E. Waller, 86, died May 2 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Waller worked at the UI for 28 years, retiring in 1978 as a storekeeper for O&M. He also worked as a groundsworker and building service worker for O&M. Memorials: Carle Hospice or St. John's Lutheran Church, 509 S. Mattis, Champaign, IL 61821.
