Benefit Choice will take place from May 1-31 this year. During this time, all benefit-eligible employees may make changes to their benefit plans and coverage levels. Benefit Choice changes may be made online with the self-service application NESSIE.

During Benefit Choice, the following changes may be made:

• Change health plans
  
• Change dental plans
  
• Add / drop dependents to/from your health and dental plans
  
• Change your Optional State Life Insurance
  
• Change your Accidental Death and Dismemberment Coverage
  
• Add/drop spouse or child life insurance coverage
  
• Enroll or re-enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts
  
  

All of these changes can be made online using NESSIE, at http://nessie.uihr.uillinois.edu. NESSIE is available from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Using NESSIE has several advantages. It’s fast and convenient, and users receive an immediate e-mail notification that changes have been made.
